Culture, History & Nature June 7th – June 26th

Week 1:

Your family adventure begins in Kyoto, where children and adults alike can marvel at shimmering temples, wander through bamboo forests, experience being a ninja, and taste new flavors at the bustling markets. We will take a day trip to Nara to experience the magic of meeting friendly deer and standing beneath the towering Great Buddha.

We will end the week with a once-in-a-lifetime experience: a Buddhist temple stay in the mountains. Here, we will experience living like a Buddhist monk, eating delicious vegetarian temple meals, exploring mossy paths, and observing lantern-lit ceremonies to welcome the night and celebrate the morning.

Week 2:

We will continue to Matsue, our home base for the next two weeks, a peaceful castle town perfect for families who love nature and hands-on culture. Explore samurai homes, sip tea at a local teahouse, and enjoy quiet walks by Lake Shinji. We will join a local Forest School and get to experience local life: meeting a rice farmer, exploring local Onsens, and kayaking to nearby coves. We will take a weekend trip to Hiroshima and the sacred island of Miyajima that will offer thoughtful conversations and inspiring learning moments for older kids and teens.

Week 3:

Back in Matsue, there’s time to rest, recharge, play, and continue learning more about Japanese culture before heading to the lively streets of Osaka. Here, neon lights, fun treats, and kid-friendly activities bring joyful energy back into the trip.

Thoughtfully paced and designed with families in mind, this itinerary is full of shared discoveries, meaningful conversations, and opportunities to explore the world together.

Cost Per Child:

$1,200 includes 3 Weeks of educational classes for one child. This includes cultural experiences, art, calligraphy, participation in Japanese forest school, classes on Japan’s geography, nature, history, culture, field trip fees (museum passes), etc… for ages 8-16 for 3 weeks in Japan. This includes all instruction Mon.- Thurs. 9:00 - 2:00.

Not included: transportation, accommodation, food, flights, and travel insurance.
